Philanthropy Leaders Interview Series

Philanthropy is a field rich with leaders who possess a unique combination of experience, expertise, and knowledge--both academic- and practitioner-based. However, as busy professionals, we rarely--if ever--take a moment to reflect on our work as grantmakers and the field of philanthropy with these seasoned professionals.

The Grantmaking School is pleased to announce a four-part series featuring interviews with distinguished leaders in the philanthropic sector. The series is kicked off by a discussion with Dr. Joel J. Orosz, Distinguished Professor of Philanthropic Studies at the Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University and founding director of The Grantmaking School.

Download videos in the series to view on your iPod or iPhone.

In this video, Joel shares his views on the hotly debated topic of whether or not philanthropy truly is a profession and the importance of professional grantmaker education.
